You can get a pre-owned car for fraction of the cost of a new car. Of course, when buying a used car, you must be very careful!

Magazines such as Auto Trader and online sites like Craigslist and OLX offer a large selection of used cars. Make sure the seller offers at least one phone number, and not just a website or email address. You want to be able to speak personally with them and ask the questions below. Also be sure to see photos before.

Make sure to ask at least the following questions:

  • How many miles are on the car?
  • What is the reason you are selling the car?
  • What is the condition of the car? Are there any damages?
  • Has the car ever been in an accident?
  • Can I get the car inspected independently?
  • For how much are you willing to sell the car?

Some of these questions can be asked over the phone, others better asked in person, but these will help you get a good car for a good price.
