With the success of its full size luxury SUV and sedans Cadillac has been able to regain the trust and attention in the world car market. While the sports utility Escalade has re-established Cadillac in the market of status vehicles the leading American car maker is trying to make the most of it by thoroughly redesigning its hot selling premium family car - the 2009 Cadillac CTS.
Cadillac CTS
The 2009 Cadillac CTS is a carry over from the 2008 model year when CTS got a thorough makeover. The mid-size luxury sports sedan comes in two trim levels with two different V6 engine options – a general 3.6L powertrain producing 258 horsepower and a Direct Injection 3.6L churning out 304 horsepower.
Features such as full leather interior, dual-zone automatic climate control, eight-way power seat CD/MP3 player with an auxiliary port and OnStar stability control system are made standard for the 2009 Cadillac CTS sports sedan.
Optional luxury features can be obtained in package or as a stand alone facility. The luxury packages include rain-sensing wipers, power heated front seat, alloy wheels, keyless access, park assist and a Bose audio system with CD changer.
Cadillac CTS-V
Cadillac further expands its luxury car line up with the phenomenally powerful 2009 Cadillac CTS V. As a high-performance luxury vehicle Cadillac CTS V sets a benchmark with its blistering acceleration and surprisingly easy handling capabilities. The car boasts a power-packed 6.2L 556 Hp V8, which is a close kin to Corvette ZR1 engine.
With adaptive cruise control, roadside assistance, rain sensitive wipers, MP3/CD sound system, USB port, satellite radio, Bluetooth, heated and cooled seats two-way security system and 12V power outlet as standard features it is no wonder that the car comes with a $60K price tag.
Following the line up, the new improved 2010 Cadillac CTS sports wagon is ready to compete with the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C and CLK Classes. The powertrain and transmission options are unchanged. As in 2009 CTS sedan the 2010 CTS Sport Wagon will have six-speed manual and six-speed automatic transmissions in RWD or AWD. Built on the same chassis the 2010 Cadillac CTS sports wagon gets shorter in overall length yet plays a stronger role in appealing to the sports car lovers.
2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe
The 2010 Cadillac CTS V is expected to appear in a new avatar. GM unveiled its CTS Coupe Concept at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The Coupe Concept will enter production in the middle of 2009 at General Motor’s Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan, USA. The car is slated to be released as the 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe carrying over all the features of Cadillac CTS-V.
Recent spy shots and road tests reveal that the production version of CTS Coupe Concept faces no major changes since its introduction at Detroit Auto Show except a back up camera to improve the rearward visibility. The front fascia is familiar to its sedan counterpart while the sharply raked rear window and vertical taillights remain as it is.
GM craftsmen craftily carved the front façade of 2010 CTS-V Coupe in the mold of CTS-V sedan while keeping the Concept’s radical aero-dynamic features prominent. With the red hot CTS-V series GM is likely to make it to the top by the year 2010.
